If you fail to do this right, you’re wasting your time

A big part of putting your small business on auto-pilot is keeping up with the latest thoughts and ideas in business books. A common thing I see in business books is they tell you that if you fail to get X right, you’re wasting your time (or some other variation of that idea). The author wants to make sure you understand how powerful / important an idea is. Many people are paralyzed into inaction when they read a statement like that.

Don’t fall into that TRAP!

The effect is that it keeps people from moving forward. They get stuck fretting over whatever this golden key to business is. As a result:

  • they never publish their advertisement
  • they never publish their website
  • they never initiate the new process
  • they never do whatever it is…

they fail to DO SOMETHING because they’re afraid of getting it wrong.

Business always involves calculated risks. As a small business owner, you have to give yourself permission to deliver imperfection. You can and should always be looking to improve. But, there are very few cases where doing nothing is better than doing something not-quite-right.

Don’t be paralyzed in the pursuit for perfection! Perfection is a journey, not a destination.

If you fail to do THAT right, then you ARE wasting your time! ;)
